Session 6

Racecourses, Racing and the community

February 20, 2020

From major cities to country towns, racecourses are often found at the heart of our societies, and their design and use has a diverse and fascinating history.  With expanding urban populations, greater demands on the use of racecourse land, and a more discerning leisure and entertainment consumer, there is anticipated to be an ever-growing challenge for our sport to have racecourses fit for the future.  This session will examine strategies being adopted by racecourses around the world to maximise utility for racing and neighbouring communities.
