Mongolian Khan, trained at Cambridge by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, is owned by Mr Lang Lin's Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group and the three-year-old colt has won six of his last seven starts.

Mr Lang Lin of the Rider Horse Group was at Ellerslie to see his colt win the classic, along with a delegation of Chinese visitors Mr Lang Lin had invited to New Zealand for the major race day.

Mongolian Khan now commences an Australian campaign with the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on Saturday and then to the Group 1 BMW Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick on April 4th.

The Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group have purchased upwards of 600 New Zealand thoroughbreds for export.
